Our Tarmac Services.

Tarmac, sometimes referred to as asphalt or blacktop is a favoured surfacing material used for car parks, driveways, roads and airports. Its components are a mixture of gravel or crushed stones mixed with bitumen, obtained from crude oil. Before its use it has to be heated and blended and then compacted onto a prepared surface.

It has a number of advantages which includes its durability, resistance to heavy weather conditions and ideal for heavy traffic loads, it also has water resistance which prevents water seeping into the layers underneath and causing damage. Another advantage is that tarmac is easily repaired so the surface lifespan can be extended.

Tar & Chip Surfacing.

Used in the construction of roads, driveways and carparks, Tar & Chip (also known as chip seal) is a frequent, cost effective method of surfacing material. In order for the installation to be completed a layer of hot liquid asphalt (tar) has to be applied to a prepared surface and then immediately another layer of aggregate chips covers this, the chips adhere to the sticky tar, the surface that remains is skid resistant and durable.

When compared to other materials this is an affordable option and has the added benefit of providing exceptional traction and prevents water accumulation. Further it manages heavy traffic and does not require any major maintenance.
